Frequently asked questions
Will I need to have my passport to sign up for this event?
You do not need to have it in your possession at the time you register, but please keep in mind we have strict cancellation policies. For that reason, we advise you confirm your passport is in good standing before committing to travel. Please note as a general rule of thumb, your passport must not expire within six months of your travel dates.
Because this is a retreat primarily for transgender individuals, you may find the following link helpful: https://travel.state.gov/content/travel/en/passports/need-passport/change-of-sex-marker.html
Will I need to obtain a Visa from my home country?
If you are a U.S. or Canadian passport holder, Thailand offers a 30-day Visa on Arrival at no additional cost, which will be more than enough time for the retreat. If you are joining us from outside the United States or Canada, please verify your specific requirements. Generally, you will be asked to provide proof of your departure within those 30 days, so please have that available. Your return ticket should suffice.
Will my phone work in Thailand?
Some phone companies offer plans for traveling, but you will need to check with your carrier in advance. If your phone is unlocked, it is very easy to get a SIM card at the airport when you arrive, as well as internet access for your stay. If you get a SIM card when you arrive, many restaurants will have WIFI and you will also be able to access the internet in your room.
Who can attend this event?
Trans Fitness Retreats are exclusively run by members of the trans community. That said, we are an inclusive group and we welcome all members of the LGBTQIAA community. This is a safe space no matter how you identify. We ask that no matter what, you offer the same respect you would appreciate someone giving to you.
I am not athletic and I do not have much experience with working out. Am I welcome to attend?
Absolutely! This retreat isn’t about being your most physically fit. You won’t find any competitions here. This is a place for everyone at various levels of their fitness journeys. This is a time to learn and grow in a comfortable environment.

Will airport pickup be included?
We will provide airport pickup at a few different times during the arrival day. If you do not want to wait, or you arrive outside of these times, you are welcome to grab a taxi at your own expense. You may also contact us directly to arrange pickup at a certain time.
What should I pack? What if I forget something?
You can find a packing list here (Click Here). Keep in mind this is just a general guide and you may require personal items not listed. The camp is located on a street with 3 different 7-eleven’s where you can pick up many of the items you may need. There are also pharmacies where you can easily get many medications or items in an emergency situation.
How far are the hotels from the camp and dining?
All hotels are within a ten-minute walk of the camp where all the classes are being held and the prepaid meals are included. Because sporadic rain isn’t uncommon, packing a small umbrella is recommended.
What if I need transportation while I’m there?
Transportation will be included for any excursions. If you would like transportation services during your personal time, you may download the app “Grab” which is a ride-sharing app. There are also taxi services on the fitness street. In addition, you can rent motorbikes easily. It is advised to get your International Driver’s License before you go. You can call your local AAA for information.
What is included in the accommodations?
All rooms come with air, wifi, TV/DVD, cable, hot water shower, wardrobe, and maid service twice per week. The most basic accommodation does not include a swimming pool. You can upgrade for an additional cost to include a swimming pool or to have direct pool access from your room. Please keep in mind there are differences in other countries. Many showers in Thailand aren’t separate from the rest of the bathroom and much of the plumbing doesn’t support flushing paper. But hey, you may learn to love the “bum gun.”
What if I would like to extend my stay to explore other areas of Thailand?
You are welcome to extend your stay. You can extend your accommodation through Tiger Muay Thai directly, or you can take advantage of this AirBNB deal click here to save some money if you travel to other areas. Please keep in mind if you plan to stay more than 30 days, you will need to get an extension on your Visa which you can do locally at the immigration office.
